The 2005 BACIP conference will be exploring the psychology of motivation and change from a Christian perspective. We are delighted to confirm William R. Miller, Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico. Professor Miller has studied the psychology of change from a number of perspectives. His book Motivational interviewing: Preparing for change, co-authored with Stephen Rollnick and now in its 2nd edition, has become a classic text for many clinicians, particularly those in the field of addiction. Miller's edited book Integrating spirituality into treatment: Resources for practitioners reflects his other longstanding interest the interface of psychology with spirituality and religion, including spiritual aspects of change. More recently Miller has co-edited a second APA-published book, this one with Harold Delaney, titled Judeo-Christian perspectives on psychology: Human nature, motivation, and change.
In addition to Professor Miller's contributions will be breakout sessions from David Booth (University of Birmingham), Fraser Watts (University of Cambridge), Sara Savage (University of Cambridge), and Martyn Baker (University of East London), covering topics including behaviour change and quality of life customs, the psychology of prayer, youth culture and spirituality, and the religiosity of clinical psychologists.
The conference programme is available for download in PDF and Microsoft Word formats. Please note that PDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader.
