The 2003 BACIP conference will address the psychology and theology of forgiveness from the perspective of theory, practice, and research. We are fortunate to have Everett Worthington Jr., Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, USA, as our keynote speaker. Everett is Executive Director of A Campaign for Forgiveness Research and a practising Clinical Psychologist. He will be joined by a number of other speakers (our largest yet), including Liz Gulliford (University of Cambridge), Stephanie Goins (YWAM), Anna Grazia Lecca (University of Southampton), Fraser Watts (University of Cambridge), and Rhiannon Lloyd (Le Rucher/Mercy Ministries, Geneva). Topics addressed will include the use of forgiveness in clinical and therapeutic practice, forgiveness and reconciliation in Sierra Leone and Rwanda, the theology and psychology of sin and forgiveness, an assessment 'self-help' style forgiveness, and ideas for new research into forgiveness.
The conference programme and presentation abstracts and speaker details are available for download in Microsoft Word and PDF. Please note that PDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The conference is being hosted at Bawtry Hall (pictured above), a beautiful listed 18th century manor house in South Yorkshire. The Hall was built by mill owner Pemberton Milne as a country home and subsequently became Bomber Command for the RAF. It has since been restored as a Christian conference and training centre with the best of modern facilities. The hall is just ten miles south of Doncaster, and has excellent connectivity from the M1.
