Christian Psychology Books To Consider

Although we do not formally endorse specific books as an organisation, we have found that people often appreciate hearing about titles that BACIP members have found especially useful over the years. Books which link Christianity and psychology (or psychology and religion in general) are a specialist cetegory and it can be rather bewildering trying to wade your way through hundreds of titles on the internet without knowing whether anyone has tried them out before you.

The books below are all titles which seasoned BACIP members have recommended fairly consistently at conferences, weekends away, and over the e-group. We can make no promises that they will fit exactly with your way of thinking or meet your specific needs but we hope at the very least that this list takes some of the hassle out of wondering where to start looking. Be sure to come back from time to time as new titles will be added.

If you want to know more about a book then click on the picture and its Amazon page will open up in a new window. If you then wish to buy it that is brilliant as the sale will support BACIP without any extra cost to you (though sadly this isn’t the case if the purchase is from the ‘used & new’ independent dealers on Amazon – which charge nearly £3 shipping per book so do your maths carefully!).

Note: if there is only limited information about a book on the UK Amazon site, searching for it on the US Amazon site (www.amazon.com) will sometimes yield more, but remember to go back to Amazon UK through this site again if you want to buy it and help BACIP. This agreement with Amazon covers anything bought from them on their site, including music, DVDs, gardening items, etc, so go ahead and support us as you shop with no extra effort! Happy browsing...

Our Top Recommendations

The first title is a classic to give to Christians struggling with anxiety or depression, or to own if you work with such people (it has a CBT focus). The second title relates to the subject matter of the 2008 day conference and is by the speaker of the 2009 residential conference. The third is a well established resource for all those in local church ministry by our friends at the Psychology & Religion Research Group in Cambridge.
