After much discussion and debate, the Steering Group proposed at our 2005 AGM that the Network of Christians in Psychology (NeCIP) be renamed the British Association of Christians in Psychology (BACIP). This proposal was accepted, and we believe that our new name will better reflect our UK-based nature and the expansion of our aims beyond simply networking with other Christian psychologists.
We are pleased to announce that discounted subscriptions to the journal Mental Health, Religion & Culture are now available to all BACIP members. For further details please email the BACIP Administrator.
BACIP has negotiated a discounted rate for members who want to join our larger American cousin, the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS). Dues for Regular Membership of CAPS are reduced from $95 to $75; student membership remains the same but is already an excellent deal at only $35. Membership benefits include discounted registration fees for annual and regional CAPS conventions, and a subscription to the Journal of Psychology and Christianity. You can join CAPS online. Make sure you quote your BACIP membership number on your CAPS application form for your discount to be processed.
To come into line with the Data Protection Act 1998, we now need to have your written permission to both store your contact details and also to publish them in the members-only Membership Directory. If you have not completed the membership details update and consent form, your details will not appear in the next Membership Directory. If you were not listed in the 2006 Membership Directory newsletter you are one of the small number of members whose consent we are still missing.
