Programme

Our 12th Annual Conference focuses on how psychology may be applied to the work of the Church. While the Church has always drawn on the psychology of therapy and counselling, this conference will consider practically how developmental, organisational, social, and cognitive psychology may also be usefully applied. The keynote speakers are all members of the University of Cambridge`s Psychology and Christianity Project, including the Project`s Director and past-President of the BPS, the Revd Dr Fraser Watts, and his colleagues Dr Rebecca Nye and Dr Sara Savage. Topics addressed include children`s spirituality, clergy stress, church consultancy, and creative worship (featuring the sacred dance group ICON).

The conference programme is available for download in Microsoft Word and PDF. Please note that PDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The conference is being hosted at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge (pictured above), a part of the University of Cambridge. Fitzwilliam was founded in 1869 and moved to its present site in the 1960s. The College occupies a large and peaceful site, off the tourist trail but within a few minutes` walk of the city centre and the beautiful Backs along the river Cam. Its beautiful gardens – with a flourishing squirrel colony only marginally inconvenienced by the college cat – are one of the city`s best-kept secrets.
